Currently, driving rules restrict teenage drivers as to the number of additional people (non family members) that they can have in their car while they are driving. There is also an 11pm driving curfew after which teens should not be on the road unless they have work or school related business.
Because Teens continue to be at higher risk than many other groups of drivers for harmful and deadly accidents, the Ohio Legislature is considering a new law that would further restrict Teenage driving rights. Specifically, teens would not be allowed to drive friends- only family, until 21. Also, the curfew would be lowered to 10pm without a school or work related reason to be on the road. Here is a link to the Columbus Dispatch Article that was printed in the Cleveland Plain Dealer on Sunday, September 22nd.
What do you think? What are your plans for learning to drive, getting your license, and then- driving? (It's only 2-3 years away for you). How would this change in rules affect your older siblings?
This discussion will run through Sunday, September 29th.
